Elias Sorensen joins Carlisle United on loan - the Cumbrians reveal their plan for Danish youngster

Elias Sorensen has joined Carlisle United until the end of the season.

The Danish Under-21 star bagged over 20 goals for club and country last season when starring in the Newcastle Under-23 side.

But after an unsuccessful stint at Blackpool, where he appeared just once, Sorensen has dropped down a division League Two to gain experience.

Carlisle boss Steven Pressley said: "We’re delighted that we’ve got this over line.

"He was a main target, then he dropped off the radar, but it came alive again last week and we’ve managed to see it through.

"He can play as the No 9, or he can play tucked in close to the 9 and just off to the side.

"That’s not as a wide player, but tucked in tight and ready to react.

"He’s very mobile and quick and he scores goals.

"He hasn’t done that at League Two level yet, but that’s his next challenge.

"I think he’s a player the fans can get excited about and we’re looking forward to working with him."
