Elfingrove takes shape as Scotland's biggest ever ice rink arrives in Glasgow's west end

Scotland's biggest ever ice rink is taking shape as Glasgow prepares to welcome Elfingrove.

Millions of pounds have been ploughed into the much-anticipated festive event, with 'The Ice Experience' set to be one of the largest ice rinks in the UK, second only to London's Hyde Park.

Custom built for skaters to enjoy an experience rivalling the great cities of the world, the ice rink features a covered see-through roof set against the stunning backdrop of a beautifully lit Kelvingrove Museum.

The Ice Experience also comes complete with a unique skate-up Mallow Café for skaters to enjoy a hot drink and treat.

The ice rink will be the second largest in the UK (Itison)

Scheduled to run from December 2-24, Kelvingrove and its surrounds are set to provide an immersive and magical 60-minute journey for Glasgow families this Christmas.

Oli Norman, CEO of itison and Elfingrove director said: “From Rockefeller Centre in New York to Ice World in Vienna, I’ve skated some of the world’s most iconic rinks. To create our own at Kelvingrove Museum to rival those great cities is a real honour.”

And for a full look around the Kelvingrove site, you can check out our Facebook Live video tour from earlier today above or via the link here.
