Elf on the Shelf ideas 2019: Places to hide Santa's little helper at Christmas

Now that it's December, parents up and down the country will be racking their brains for the most brilliant ideas for their Elf on the Shelf.

For those who aren't in the know, Elf on the Shelf is a game where parents put a sweet toy elf in a different position each day until Christmas for the kids to find.

The festive craze is a great addition to an advent calendar - and really brings the magic of Christmas alive for the little ones.

Kids have a ball searching for Santa's little helper and you'll enjoying hiding them too.

However, as the days draw on, you may quickly start to run out of ideas.

It's a good thing we have gathered some helpful pointers for hiding your Elf on the Shelf around the home for Christmas.

Elf on the Shelf ideas 2019

An oldie, but a goldie. Place your elf safely amongst the branches of your Christmas tree.

They'll never look out of place, especially if they're causing mischief.

Chestnuts roasting on a open fire...or maybe your elf instead!

Okay, maybe the mantelpiece is a safer and more yuletide appropriate placing for the elf.

It certainly looks festive near those stockings.

Or, keep your Elf as the coolest on the block and place him on top of your fridge-freezer.

If you're really smart about it you could even place it inside the fridge-freezer to get a nice festive surprise every time you go looking for that merry tipple or to get the cheese and cranberries out.

Darling it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me!

Maybe your elf would prefer The Life Aquatic, so if you have a fish tank then maybe give them a colourful new friend and put the elf down underwater to see all the ripples up close.

Some elves just need to live their life on the open road.

Okay, we aren't sure about the Health and Safety aspects but maybe hanging your elf on the steering wheel might encourage you to drive in a more festive - but not merry! - manner.

Or, of course, there is our favourite spot - with the chocolate!

A hero amongst heroes, keep him safe!

Reminder, all elves are professionals and their behaviour should not be repeated by non-elves at home!
