Elf on the Shelf ideas 2018: Where to hide Santa's little helper

The Elf on a Shelf (Picture: Walmart)

Christmas is just around the corner and parents all over the country will find themselves trying to come up with the most innovative Elf on the Shelf ideas.

The festive craze is a relatively recent Christmas tradition, but ever since its introduction in 2005, people have been going mad for the little red elf.

The idea is for parents to position the toy elf in different locations around the house each day in December, so he is in a new place when the children wake up every morning.

Parents can, however, struggle to come up with a whole month of ideas to keep the game going until Christmas Day. And so we have put together a quick round-up of some of the best we've seen on Instagram to help out.

Best Elf on the Shelf ideas

We love this entrance...

This is a fun arrival idea for those with a surplus of sweets.

It's up, up and away for this little elf.

We love the clever use of icing sugar in this one.

An ingenious way to use different toys.

A bath of marshmallows? Why not?

We're not too sure what Banksy would make of this one.

Simple, yet so wonderfully effective.

Where to buy Elf on the Shelf?

You can get your hands on Elf on the Shelf at both Amazon and Smyths Toys.

Amazon is selling it for £22.95 while Smyths has it on sale for the slighter cheaper price of £19.99.
