An 11-year-old left home alone has shot dead a teenage intruder, it has been reported.
Left at home with his four-year-old sister, the child fired at a 16-year-old who was trying to break into their house in St Louis, according to CNN.
Police arrived at the home yesterday afternoon and reportedly found the alleged intruder had been shot in the head.
The two siblings were not hurt in the incident and it is unclear why they were left at home alone.
However, some witnesses gave a different account of events, saying both boys were on the front porch when the 11-year-old took out the gun and fired.
The KTVI/KPLR television station reported that the children’s mother had bought the handgun because of previous break-in attempts.
