'Eleven people' rescued from beauty spot near Loch Lomond as emergency services race to scene

Eleven people have reportedly been rescued from a beauty spot near Loch Lomond this evening.

Emergency services - including police, fire and mountain rescue teams - scrambled to Falls of Falloch off the A82, around four miles south-west of the village of Crianlarich.

The alarm was raised at around 5.30pm following reports of rising water levels at the waterfall.

It's been reported that at least 11 people were rescued from the falls.

Local reports suggest a huge emergency response was sparked by the incident, with "over 20 vehicles and a rescue boat" in attendance.

One eyewitness said on the 'Wild Swimming - Scotland' Facebook page: "Falls of Falloch full of emergency services and rescue team just now right down the river from the waterfall. Must be about 20+ vehicles and rescue boat."

There are no reports of any casualties at this stage.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted as part of a multi-agency response at 5.38pm on Monday, August 9, to reports of a number of people in difficulty at the Falls of Falloch.

"Operations control mobilised appliances to the scene and fire fighters assisted 11 people across a gorge to safety.

"There were no reported injuries."
