Eleven people and four dogs were dramatically rescued from rising floodwaters in Bramhall

Eleven people and four dogs were dramatically rescued from rising flood waters in Bramhall after a torrent of heavy rain caused chaos on the roads and deluged properties.

Some of the incidents Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service responded to included four men being rescued from a funeral directors and two women and four dogs being taken by boat from a house.

One woman was also rescued from a Nisa shop in Bramhall.

Images taken on the roundabout at the junction of Bramhall Lane and Bridge Lane show firefighters using boats to rescue people from water that was at least three feet in height.

Dramatic footage shows the specialist fire fighters in an orange dinghy outside a funeral directors on Bridge Lane near the swamped roundabout.

The water appears to be several feet high, it has reached the lower part of the building's windows and almost completely engulfed bollards on the roads.

A spokesman for GMFRS confirmed they were called to the area to reports that people were stranded.

They said: "We were called at 4.05pm to reports of water entering properties on Bridge Lane in Bramhall.

"There is a large area of flooding on the roundabout. Pump crews and boat crews are assisting stranded people using boats."

More footage shared on the I Love Bramhall Facebook page shows large parts of the area near the roundabout underwater.

Crews were called to the scene just after 4pm (Richard Moore)

Firefighters can be seen wading through what looks like a newly formed lake towards the Nisa shop as stunned passersby watch on from higher ground.

Bramhall Park has also flooded.

Several cars are understood to have become stranded in the water, and people are being urged to avoid the area.
