Eleven more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

A further 11 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's coronavirus hospital death toll has now reached 5,202, the latest NHS figures show.

Nine new deaths were confirmed by Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

The trust's figures include those of North Manchester General, the Royal Oldham, Fairfield General and Rochdale Infirmary.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Salford Royal recorded one new Covid death each.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Monday, February 8, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 568
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,002 (+1)
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,424 (+9)
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 442 (+1)
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 482
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 522
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 24
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 715

Nationally, a further 313 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 76,080.

Patients were aged between 16 and 108 years old. All except 6 (aged 49 to 81 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from December 24 to February 7 with the majority being on or after February 3.

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24-hour period.

These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days - or even weeks ago.

They do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
