Eleven more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after contracting coronavirus

Eleven more people have died at Greater Manchester's hospitals having contracted coronavirus.

The latest NHS data reveals that at least 78 people have died in the region's facilities after testing positive for the virus.

Further deaths have been confirmed at the Manchester University Foundation Trust, Pennine Actue Hospitals NHS Trust, Salford Royal and Tameside General.

The latest figures, published on Monday, confirms that the UK death toll now stands at 1,415, which is an increase of 187 from yesterday’s total of 1,228.

In England, the number of people who have died after contracting coronavirus is now 1,284, a rise of 159, NHS England said.

The patients were aged between 32 and 98 years old and all but four, aged between 56 and 87 years old, had underlying health conditions.

The number of NHS England reported deaths from coronavirus at Greater Manchester trusts as of the evening of March 30:

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 5

Manchester University Foundation Trust - 11

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 17

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 23

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 7

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 14

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 1

The number of people to have tested positive for Covid-19, as of 9am, is yet to be confirmed by the Department of Health.

The true number of people infected is likely to be far higher as people who suspect they have symptoms, but are not admitted to hospital, are not being routinely tested.
