Eleven more coronavirus patients have died at the Royal Bolton Hospital - the biggest daily total so far

Eleven more coronavirus patients have died at the Royal Bolton Hospital - marking the greatest daily increase of Covid-19 deaths at the hospital so far.

The total number of people to die at the hospital after testing positive for the virus now stands at 46, NHS England announced this afternoon.

In the last three days alone, there have been more 28 coronavirus deaths announced at the hospital.

Today's update is the largest jump in daily deaths yet - rising from 35 announced yesterday, to 46.

Although the 11 additional deaths in Bolton were all announced today, the patients may not have all died in the last 24 hours as there is often a delay in the reporting of cases.

Across Greater Manchester, there have no been a total of 331 Covid-19 patients to die in hospital.

The update shows an increase of 52 on yesterday's number, which is also the biggest daily increase during the coronavirus pandemic.

The government's figures relate to patients who have died in hospital and do not include deaths in the community, for example in care homes, so the true death toll will be higher.
