Eleven areas of Trafford have now managed to ‘suppress’ coronavirus.
According to data on the government’s interactive Covid-19 tracking map, the areas all had fewer than three new cases confirmed in the week ending April 8 and the rest of the borough isn’t far from doing the same thing.
In the government’s own words, it means the areas have ‘suppressed’ the virus – as things stand.
The wards are Hale, Altrincham East, Timperley South, West Timperley, Ashton Upon Mersey South, Sale North, Sale Central, Sale Moor, Partington, Urmston East and Davyhulme.
The infection rates for these areas are not shown on the government’s interactive map when numbers are low – to protect individuals’ identities, the government says.
The area of the borough that currently has the highest infection rate is Firswood – which only had nine new cases of covid-19 confirmed in the seven day period up to April 8.

Its rolling average infection rate is just 104.1 cases per 100,000 people.
All areas of the borough have seen fewer than 10 new cases of covid confirmed in the week up to April 8 and all now have infection rates less than 110 per 100,000.
Last week, the borough’s director for public health Eleanor Roaf welcomed the low rates across the borough as ‘fantastic news’ but did urge caution and said the risk of covid ‘remains real’ with cases spread across the borough.
As of last week, more than 100,000 of Trafford’s adult population had received at least their first vaccine – that’s more than 40pc of the borough’s adult population.
