Elegoo has finally launched the anticipated CANVAS system designed for its popular Centauri Carbon machine – one of the best 3D printers on the market.
If you're familiar with the Centauri Carbon series, you'll know that it's an extremely affordable enclosed core XY machine with single-nozzle capability. This previously meant that it could only utilise one roll of material at a time for printing, but those days are gone.
The Elegoo CANVAS for Centauri Carbon is here – a system only compatible with the original Centauri Carbon 3D printer (not the newly released Centauri Carbon 2 model), and it brings fully automated 4-colour printing without much complexity. The CANVAS works by controlling four independent motors, each managing a separate filament, for fast colour switching and minimised feed paths.
Existing Centauri Carbon owners will be thrilled by not only the release of this new upgrade but also its price, available to preorder for only $55 / £38 directly from Elegoo. There's a chance you may need to wait until August for it to ship, however, as demand for this optional add-on will be extremely high.
Just like the AMS (automated material system) units from rival brands such as Bambu Lab, Creality's CFS system, and Anycubic's Ace Pro chamber, the CANVAS equips an existing 3D printer with the upgrades it needs for automated colour management.

It seems that a broad range of filaments will be compatible with the CANVAS system, including PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, and PC with Smart Filament Management for worry-free printing and smooth, seamless colour transitions.
