The price of electricity in Ireland has risen by 91% in the last year, with food costs also skyrocketing in Ireland's cost of living crisis.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) published the Wholesale Price Index for June 2022 on Friday morning and it makes for grim reading for people who are already struggling to make ends meet.
On top of that, the cost of some food has risen by almost 50%, with an overall increase compared to the same time in 2021.

The new data shows that there was an increase in the price of wholesale electricity in June, with prices 26.9% higher than the previous month.
Coming on top of other price rises in the last year, the wholesale price of electricity is now 91.3% higher than in June 2021.
The overall Energy Products Index followed these trends, going up by 22.8% since May 2022, and up 80.8% when compared to June 2021.

Prices in several food categories were significantly higher in June 2022 compared to the same month last year.
Some of the most notable annual increases were:
- Dairy Products 49.1%
- Meat & Meat Products 14.5%
- Grain Milling, Starches & Animal Feeds 11.7%.
- Food Products 10.2%
- Food Products, Beverages & Tobacco 9.9%
Commenting on the release, Jillian Delaney, Statistician in the Prices Division, said: “Outputs from Irish manufacturers also increased in price in several other categories.

"Wood & Wood Products were 38.1% more expensive than this time last year. Basic Metals were up 33.0% and Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products such as glass, ceramics, cement, concrete, and stone rose by 23.2%.
"Mining & Quarrying prices also had a large annual increase of 23.7%. "
