An electric scooter rider failed to stop after colliding with a pedestrian in Longsight, police have said.
A man in his 20s suffered serious head injuries following the crash, on Dickenson Road, just before 7.30pm on Friday evening (April 9).
He was rushed to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing, police said.
Police are now asking for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward after the scooter rider failed to stop at the scene.
Dickenson Road was closed in both directions for around two hours on Friday night while officers made the scene safe and scoured the area for evidence.
The collision happened close to the junction with Birchfields Road and an air ambulance landed at Birchfields Park.
There was a large emergency services presence in the area while police worked at the scene.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area and diversions were put in place until the road reopened at around 9.30pm.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has now released this update on the incident.
“Officers were called just before 7.30pm last night (9 April 2021) to a report of a road traffic involving an electric scooter and a pedestrian on Dickenson Road in Manchester,” they said.
“Emergency services attended and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
“The scooter rider failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are on-going.
“The road was reopened just before 9.30pm.
