Electric scooter gang flee after man stabbed in Liverpool street

Five men on electric scooters were seen fleeing a Liverpool street moments after a man was stabbed.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, was rushed to hospital after he was knifed just before 11pm.

Merseyside Police said they were called to Goodison Road close to Goodison Park after reports that a man had been stabbed in the leg.

The man's injury is not life-threatening, say police.

A witness appeal is underway with five men on scooters seen riding off towards Index Street after the stabbing.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Two police officers could be seen standing guard on the street last night.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing last night, Wednesday 9 June.

"At around 10.55pm, emergency services were called to an address on Goodison Road to reports that a man had been stabbed in the leg.

"The victim, a 49-year-old man from Liverpool, was taken to hospital for treatment on his injury, which is not life-threatening."

The spokesperson added: "It was reported that five men on e-scooters left the scene in the direction of Index Street following the incident.

"Witness and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the area. Following enquiries, a man in his 20s from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault. He has been detained by police and will be taken to custody for questioning."
