Electric Picnic 2020: Tour de Picnic launches as festival goers given last chance to nab tickets

Electric Picnic fans have a chance of snatching tickets to the sold out event - by signing up to the festival's annual run or cycle.

Tour de Picnic will return in 2020, with festival goers offered a ticket for running 17km or cycling 80km.

Participants will have to raise funds for three chosen children's charities if they are to get a free pass to the standout weekend in the Irish music calendar.

Each person entering must raise at least €450 - which includes a €60 registration fee - with the money going to LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, Ronald McDonald House and ISPCC Childline.

Festival organisers said registration for the over 18s event will rise to €100 after the early birds sell out.

A spokeswoman said: "Tour De Picnic are proud to say that they take 1,000 cars off the road to Electric Picnic annually, helping massively with both traffic management and the environmental impact of the festival.

"Charity is of course another fundamental part of this fantastic event.

"This year, participants are required to raise €450 for the Tour De Picnic charities to take part in this exhilarating fundraising and fitness challenge, with their weekend pass to Ireland’s most popular music festival waiting for them at the finish line.

"Funds raised by Tour De Picnickers will go towards all three of the following children's charities: LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, Ronald McDonald House and ISPCC Childline (with one more worthy cause to be announced soon). Fundraising deadline is June 30 2020."

The cycle begin with a breakfast party held at Tallaght Stadium, Dublin on Friday morning, September 4.

Tickets for the festival being held at Stradbally Hall, Co Laois between September 4-6 sold out last December.
