Electric Ireland has announced that domestic electricity customers are set to benefit from a reduction in prices from August.
The energy company revealed on Friday that prices would be reduced by 4.1% from August 2020, meaning that all electricity suppliers in Northern Ireland with the exception of one, will have lowered their prices before the autum.
Welcoming the news, Paulino Garcia, Head of Energy at The Consumer Council, said: “We welcome the tariff decrease announced today by Electric Ireland. Now that all but one of the electricity suppliers in Northern Ireland have announced price decreases, it is the perfect time to compare prices and look for the best deal. Even if you want to stay with your current supplier, it is always worth contacting them to see if they have a better deal, as significant savings can be found.”
Paulino added: “The Consumer Council free independent price comparison tool is on our website and it compares all tariffs currently available from the five suppliers in Northern Ireland. Last year, nearly 150,000 domestic and business consumers used the energy switching tools on The Consumer Council’s website to get the best possible deal”.
