The Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, Northern Ireland Assembly, London Assembly, and Mayor of London are up for election, with around 16 million people eligible to vote in England alone.

Some local councils in England, and police and crimes commissioners across England and Wales will also be chosen today.

Some results are due in overnight, while others will be counted on Friday.

In London, Labour’s Sadiq Khan has a significant lead over the Conservatives’ Zac Goldsmith – but there is still room for an upset.

North of the border in Scotland the Scottish National Party are set to win by a huge margin – but there is a bitter battle for second and third place between Labour and the Tories.

In Wales, the question is whether Labour can hang on as a majority government or will have to bring other parties in.

In all, 2,700 seats will be contested in 124 English councils, and all police and crime commissioners in England will be decided.

Liverpool, Salford and Bristol see mayoral showdowns and Labour will also be defending Ogmore and Sheffield Brightside in two parliamentary by-elections.
