The media’s worst nightmare (Report, 22 April). Press release: “Buckingham Palace, Thursday 7 May, 6pm. At 5pm, the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to twins. There will be a further announcement at midnight.” And VE Day on 8 May. Still, it would be a good day for the Tories to bury bad news – one hopes.

• Regarding expensive holidays in Nepal (Letters, 28 April). By all means send money to the disaster fund but don’t cancel the holiday. Postpone it, perhaps, but when you get to there, spend as much as you possibly can.

Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

• When driving on the A10 through Cheshunt and I see the sign “Theobalds Lane ahead, changed priorities” (Letters, 28 April), I always wonder, is it “settle down, get a proper job, a mortgage”?

• Do many people use the “baby change” facilities often available at public toilets?
