Election candidate's quirky campaign video upstaged by rude graffiti

An election candidate has become a big hit online after his musical campaign went viral.

But he seemingly had no idea it had an accidental rude ending.

Taxi driver Altaf 'Tiger' Patel decided to go one step further than simply outlining his list of promises to get into office - and made his very own Bhangra music video.

It amassed over 100,000 views online after viewers labelled it ‘weird’ but also ‘incredible’.

One thing they and unfortunate Mr Patel missed however was an inadvertently rude ending to the video.

Unknowingly, the wannabe Tory politician concluded his visual message by standing on top of a climbing frame and making a ‘peace’ sign over a graffiti image of the word ‘s*ck’ written above cartoon male genitals.

Previous campaign videos of Mr Patel have involved his face merging with a tiger's (PA)

Mr Patel seemed to have no idea the image could be seen on the footage – nor apparently did the cameraman.

His intention in releasing the bizarre campaign video ahead of the elections today (May 6), was to highlight the dreadful state of playgrounds in the ward of Audley and Queen's Park in Blackburn, where Mr Patel is standing as Tory candidate.

It begins with him slowly walking into the playground with Bhangra music blaring in the background.

He then crouches beside a ‘Vote Conservative’ placard on the ground before reaching up and grabbing a hanging chain, pushing a rusty swing, and holding his hands up to point towards a frame with another swing missing.

Mr Patel then clambers to the top of a climbing frame and proudly raises both arms up into the air, making ‘peace’ signs with his forefingers.

The campaign is eye-catching enough in its own right, but then, at the very end, the rude graffiti can be clearly seen beneath his waist.

The footage became an instant viral hit from the moment it was posted online by Lambat Yusuf, attracting more than 100,000 views, reports Lancslive.

Speaking to Bolton News about the incident he joked : “I honestly did not realise it was there.

“It was a genuine a mistake. The person filming it did not see it either. It only came to out attention after we sent it out

“I am not bothered about it one bit.

“It was just an error.”

On Twitter, after being shared by Hannah Al-Othman, one user described it as the ‘best political campaign video I have ever seen’.

Another simply added it was ‘incredible’.

Others said that the video was ‘a bit weird’ but they understood ‘what he's trying to say here, highlighting the state of the playground'.

As of this evening none of the viewers had yet mentioned the unfortunate ‘rude’ ending however.

Owner of local cab firm Tiger Taxis, Mr Patel previously ran as an independent in 2019 before representing the Conservative Party.

In 2019, he secured 584 votes in his ward — enough to beat out then-Tory challenger Sarah Louise Morrison into second place behind Labour’s Salim Sidat.

This time, he faces Labour opposition from Maryam Batan.

According to the local Conservative Association, Mr Patel has been ‘campaigning for a long time for playground equipment in Queens Park to be repaired and for a reduction in litter in the area’.

This is not the first time his unique brand of campaign video has caught the attention of the public online either.

Previous appearances have seen his face morph into that of a tiger, as well as appearing with bins that had not been collected.
