As the general election campaign enters its final 48 hours, The Independent will be bringing you all the live updates from each of the major campaigns.
As the general election campaign enters its final 48 hours, Theresa May has started the day in a bakery in the north-west in the key Labour marginal of Fleetwood. Pressure is also on the Prime Minister to either cancel or delay Donald Trump’s state visit for his incendiary comments over the London Bridge terror attack at the weekend. The call comes from Sadiq Khan, the London Mayor, and Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat leader.
At 9am, Radio 4 will host a Woman’s Hour debate between high profile figures of all the major parties, including Diane Abbott, the Shadow Home Secretary, and the Home Secretary Amber Rudd. Shortly after the former deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg will make a speech on Brexit in central London. At 11am there will be a minute’s silence for the victims of the terrorist atrocity at London Bridge on Sunday.
With just two days to polling day, a Survation poll for ITV's Good Morning Britain has also put the two main parties almost neck-and-neck, with the Tories on 41.5 per cent and Labour on 40.4 per cent.
But dramatic tightening has not been reflected by all pollsters - with some weekend surveys suggesting the Conservatives still enjoy a double-digit lead.
