Elderly woman robbed by men pretending to be gardai in Meath

Officers are investigating after a pensioner was robbed by two men pretending to be gardai in Co Meath.

The incident happened in Crossdrum Lower in Oldcastle between 10.45am and 11am on Tuesday morning.

The duo called to the lady's home and claimed to be the members of An Garda Siochana investigating burglaries in the area.

They asked to see her money and proceeded to search the rooms of the house. The men then fled after taking cash from her handbag.

Gardai are investigating the incident and are appealing to anybody who may have been in the area and noticed any suspicious males or a suspicious vehicle are asked to please contact Kells Garda Station on 046 9280820 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
