Elderly woman who crashed into pillar of house in Howth, Co Dublin passes away in hospital

An elderly woman who crashed into the pillar of a house yesterday afternoon has passed away this morning.

The pensioner, in her late 70s, was driving alone on Windgate Road in Howth, Co Dublin on Sunday afternoon when the collision happened at around 3.20pm.

She was seriously injured and was removed to Beaumont Hospital, where she passed away in the early hours of this morning.

A Garda forensic team and scenes of crime officers were at the scene and examined the crash site.

The road was closed but has since reopened.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
