Elderly woman trapped under car is rescued by fire crew

An elderly woman has been rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped under a car.

A crew from Temple fire station was called to Hassell Drive in St Philips yesterday (March 31) at around 11.23am.

Firefighters used hydraulic spreaders to lift the car and free the woman trapped underneath.

She was then handed to ambulance crews at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary were also present during the rescue.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "One crew from Temple fire station were called to an incident involving one elderly casualty trapped under a vehicle. 

"On arrival, firefighters used hydraulic spreaders to quickly lift the car and free the casualty.

"The casualty was handed to ambulance crews and police were also in attendance."
