Elderly woman sustains 'life-changing' injuries in collision with tractor on the A1

A woman has sustained life-changing injuries after a collision with a tractor on the A1 in Northumberland.

Police are appealing for witnesses to help them with their investigation into the crash on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 3pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to the A1 northbound, near the B6345 at Felton, Northumberland, to reports of a collision.

The female driver of the Toyota, a 74-year-old, was taken to hospital with serious life changing injuries as a result of the collision. 

The road was closed for six hours while officers were in attendance at the scene and both vehicles were recovered.

Officers are now asking for anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to this incident and are especially interested in hearing from anybody who has dash cam footage. 

"Please contact police by calling 101 or emailing 1079@northumbria.pnn.police.uk quoting log 662 120919."
