Elderly woman suffers broken arm after 'disturbance' flares in Musselburgh

An elderly woman was injured and required hospital treatment after trouble flared in Musselburgh on Saturday.

It's understood the female pensioner got caught up in a row between two men and ended up falling to the ground.

Police said a woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm shortly after midday. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and any witnesses have been urged to come forward.

One local posted on Facebook that a woman in her eighties had tried to intervene in a fight, saying: "two guys were fighting and she tried to break them up and she got knocked to the ground."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police received a report of a disturbance in North High Street, Fisherrow, Musselburgh around 12.15pm on Saturday, 22 February.

"Officers attended and one woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected broken arm.

"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 1943 of 22 February."
