Elderly woman's heartbreaking words after 15 year death threat terror campaign

An elderly couple who have endured a campaign of terror from a faceless bully have spoken out about their ordeal.

Avon and Somerset Police issued an appeal yesterday (November 11), after the Thornbury couple were repeatedly subjected to death threats and vandalism.

They have been terrorised over a 15-year period at their home in Primrose Drive, and were warned in one letter: "We have a big sharp knife waiting for you and we are still going to get you when it goes dark soon."

Now the elderly woman has spoken out, bravely asserting: "We're not going to let this person win."

'We have no peace of mind'

In a statement released by police today (Thursday, November 12) the woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "These incidents make us feel anxious and frustrated.

"It's very stressful and has affected our health. We have no peace of mind."

They are baffled as to who could be behind the threats.

She said: "We think it's one person, but can't believe that someone would hold a grudge for so long. I want to know why they're doing this to us. What have we done?

"The police are doing their very best for us. They’ve always been there for us and we're very happy with their support."

Their home has been pelted with eggs, glass bottles and paint, and one time a concrete slab was even hurled through their conservatory window.

Police said the majority of the incidents have happened while the victims have been away.

'It can be years between incidents'

PC Natalie Jones said the case has been "frustrating" and that the couple have "no idea who could be responsible".

She said: "It can be many months - even years - between incidents.

"CCTV has been installed and we've had items examined by our forensics teams, but we still haven't got that one piece of evidence to help us identify the person responsible - that's why we've issued this appeal.

"We do have forensic evidence which could help us eliminate people from our enquiries so even if you only have a suspicion, do please pass the information on.

"You can speak anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you don't want to talk to us."

Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers or police on 101, providing the call handler with the reference 5220207115.
