Elderly woman rushed to hospital after two car smash

An elderly woman has been rushed to hospital after being involved in a two car smash.

Several fire fighters, police and the North West Ambulance Service were called to Boundary Road, St Helens , at about 2.30pm, after receiving reports of a crash.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black Vauxhall Corsa were both involved in the crash.

One of the drivers was able to leave their vehicle, but the elderly woman was treated at the scene by firefighters who administered oxygen.

She was then taken to hospital, however her injuries are not believed to be serious.

No arrests were made at the scene and the other driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene to assist police.
