Elderly woman rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Oldham

A woman in her 80s has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Oldham.

At around 10:10am this morning (April 4), a Seat Leon was driving northbound along Oldham Road in Royton towards the junction with Sparrow Street.

A female pedestrian was crossing the first half of the carriageway at the same time. The vehicle then collided with her as she attempted to cross the second half of the road.

Emergency services were called the scene and the woman, who is in her 80s, was taken to hospital.

The driver remained at the scene and assisted with officers. No arrests have been made.

Detectives from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help them with their investigation.

Anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision is also being encouraged to contact police.
