Elderly woman reported missing after leaving her Gateshead home on Friday morning

Police are searching for an elderly Gateshead woman who has not been seen for 24 hours.

Jean Bain, 72, was reported missing on Friday evening after leaving her home on Tyne View Place in Teams at around 10am that morning.

She has not been seen since and officers say she has links to the Cheshire area.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Enquiries to locate her are ongoing but police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

"Now police are appealing for help from the public to locate her and are asking for anyone who may have seen her to get in touch.

"She is described as white, of average build, about 5ft 1in tall, with short blonde hair and wearing glasses.

"Jean is also believed to have links to Cheshire in the North West of the country.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting 1213 04/10/19 - or report online at the Northumbria Police website."
