Elderly woman left shaken after traumatising assault and robbery in her own home

Police are on the hunt for a thief who entered the home of an 88-year-old woman and assaulted her.

The incident happened in Paisley’s Windsor Crescent around 6.25pm yesterday (Thursday, November 14).

The man entered the property and attacked the elderly lady then made off with a three-figure sum of cash, bank cards and house keys.

The victim was checked over by paramedics who attended the scene and did not require hospital treatment, but she was left badly shaken by the attack.

Detective Sergeant Nicola Wake, of Paisley CID , said: “An elderly lady has been left traumatised by this crime and it’s imperative we trace the man responsible. 

“This man cares only for himself and his actions are shameful. 

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.  At the time, it may not have seemed unusual or suspicious but the information could be significant to our investigation.”

The suspect is around 5ft4 in height, medium build, in his late 30s to early 40s and he has short, cropped red hair. He speaks with a local accent and was wearing a brown jacket at the time.
