Elderly woman left shaken after being woken at midnight by intruder in her home

An elderly woman was left shaken after being woken by an intruder in her home.

Police said a man got into her house in Flixton, Trafford, at about midnight last night through an upstairs window which was open.

He didn't steal anything but the woman was left 'shaken'.

Officers are calling on residents to check their windows and doors are locked and secure.

"Around Midnight last night an elderly female was awoken after a male entered her property via an open upstairs window on Stott Drive, Flixton," officers posting on the GMP Trafford North page said.

"Luckily nothing was stolen but the victim left was left shaken.

"There has been an increase in burglaries in Woodsend, Flixton and Davyhulme where by an offender has gained entry though downstairs & upstairs windows that have been left open.

"Please make sure all windows and doors are locked and secure.

"If you observe something that you think is suspicious please call us on 101 or utilise GMP live chat on our web site.

"If you think a crime is occurring please call 999."
