An elderly woman has died in a crash that happened this afternoon.
Police said the 75-year-old was driving a red Citroën C1 which was travelling southbound on the A1 between Dromore and Banbridge in Co Down when the collision occurred.
Her car was the only one involved in the crash, which happened at 12.45pm on Sunday, Belfast Live reports.
The road remains closed in both directions today and police are appealing for witnesses.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police can confirm that one woman has died following a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A1 Southbound this afternoon (Sunday 24 November).
"The 75-year-old woman was travelling in a red Citroën C1 that was involved in the collision shortly before 12.45pm.
"Inspector Moore is appealing to anyone who was travelling on the A1 Southbound between Banbridge and Dromore this afternoon and who may have seen this vehicle prior to the collision or anyone with dash-cam footage which could assist with the investigation, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 844 24/11/19.
"The A1 Southbound between Banbridge and Dromore remains closed in both directions at this time while police continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision."
