Elderly woman fighting for life after being hit by car in KFC car park

An elderly woman is fighting for her life after she was hit by a car in a KFC car park.

The woman, who is in her 80s, was airlifted to hospital where she remains in a critical condition after the incident in the Grovebury Retail Park in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision at around 4.40pm on Monday remained at the scene as emergency services arrived.

They are co-operating with police enquiries.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the "tragic" collision.

Sergeant James Wood, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and hugely distressing for the family of the woman involved.
