Elderly woman dies in Ardfert, Co Kerry after car hits wall

An elderly woman died in a single car crash this morning.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened at around 11.25am on Friday, June 28.

Emergency services attended the scene today at Farranwilliam, Ardfert, Co Kerry, where the female driver in her 70s was pronounced dead.

The woman, who was alone in the car, hit a wall. Her body was removed to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee for a post mortem examination.

A Garda forensic team and scenes of crime officers are currently examining the crash site.

The road has been closed and local diversions are in place. The local coroner will be notified, gardai saiid.
