Elderly woman dies following serious single car collision in Howth

The elderly woman involved in a single car collision in Howth has sadly died.

The woman, in her 70s, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital after the serious crash on Windgate Road in Howth.

The tragic incident happened at around 3.20pm yesterday when her car collided with a pillar of a house.

Gardai have confirmed that she sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí in Howth are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Howth, Co. Dublin.

"At approximately 3.20p.m. yesterday afternoon Sunday 2nd June, 2019 a single vehicle collision occurred on Windgate Road, Howth.

"The female driver (late 70s), sole occupant of the car was driving when it collided with a pillar of a house.  She was seriously injured and removed to Beaumont Hospital where she passed away in the early hours of this morning, Monday 3rd June, 2019.

What to do in an emergency situation

"Garda forensic collision investigators and scenes of crime officers were at the scene and examined the crash site.  The road was closed but has since reopened.

"Investigating Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them at Raheny Garda Station on 01 - 6664300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
