An elderly woman has tragically died after crashing her car in Co Longford.
The woman, in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday afternoon.
She was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it crashed on the Strokestown Road at Aughagreagh at around 12.50pm.
The scene was closed for a technical exmaination as her body was brought to Mullingar Regional Hospital.
Gardai investigating the crash have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 12:45pm and 1pm to contact them.
"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dash cam footage.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí at Longford Garda Station on 043 335 0570."
