Police have arrested an elderly woman who allegedly caused "significant" graffiti damage to road signs in Adelaide's inner southern suburbs.
The 74-year-old Goodwood woman was charged with two counts of property damage earlier this week, SA Police confirmed today.
Police said local residents reported "significant damage" to road signs on Weller Street, within the Unley council area, for more than four weeks between July 8 and August 11.
Street signs signalling speed humps had offensive acronyms scrawled across them in bright paint.
The graffiti has since been painted over by the council.
"Community members assisted police with their investigations and provided photos of the damage and the offender," police said in a statement.
The woman has been granted bail and will face court in November.
The City of Unley recently installed speed humps and one-lane choke points to try to slow down drivers and make Weller Street safer for cyclists, who use it to get to Adelaide's CBD.
A group of residents submitted a petition against the plans in June, once work had already started but before the council completed it.
