An elderly woman who died in a crash in Longford yesterday has been named locally as Joyce Wilson.
Ms Wilson, 71, passed away after her car crashed on the Strokestown Road at Aughagreagh at around 12.50pm on Wednesday,
The scene was closed for a technical examination and her body was brought to Mullingar Regional Hospital.
Gardai investigating the crash have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Shannonside FM reports that Ms Joyce is believed to have been from the south Longford area.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 12:45pm and 1pm yesterdau to contact them.
A garda spokesperson said:"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dash cam footage.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí at Longford Garda Station on 043 335 0570."
