Elderly walker Neil Cowking still missing in Northumberland two days on

Police are still searching for an elderly man who has gone missing on a walking holiday in Northumberland.

Neil Cowking, from Huddersfield, was visiting River Breamish Caravan Park near Powburn, when he went missing.

Police say Mr Cowking is an experienced walker and is believed to have last visited the Ingram Valley area late on Friday or early on Saturday morning.

However he has not been heard from since and a search has been launched.

On Monday, police confirmed that he has still not been found.

He is described as 5ft 6in, of slim build with short grey thinning hair and is clean shaven.

Det Supt Mick Paterson, one of the Northumbria Police officers leading the search, said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for Neil’s welfare and urge anyone who thinks they may have seen him to get in touch.

"Neil is a keen walker but there are a number of walking routes in the Ingram Valley area and we need the public’s help to narrow our search.

"The area has been busy with walkers these past few days and we’re confident someone will have seen Neil or spoken to him. Anyone who thinks they can help is urged to contact police."

Anyone who has any information that may help with the search is asked to call police quoting reference 455 27/09/20.
