A Swiss man was killed in a fall from a building in Min Buri district on Sunday morning. It was believed he had taken his own life, according to media reports.
Pol Maj Susirichok Tanyanon, a Min Buri police investigator, said forensic police and staff from the Rom Sai Foundation for rescue and emergency operations were dispatched to Sirirudee Place building in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 164 on being informed of the incident.
They found the body of the man, later identified as 71-year-old Daniel Scharer, a Swiss national, lying dead face down on the bonnet of a Toyota Camry.
A police investigation revealed that the man had was staying in a room on the 8th floor. The window of the room was left open. There were no traces of a struggle, and the room had not been ransacked.
Witnesses said the Swiss man had stayed alone in the room for four years and apparently had no job. It was initially suspected that the man had suffered from depression.
Police were investigating.
