A Scots pensioner is fighting for her life after a blaze in Edinburgh.
Emergency services raced to the inferno at a two-story home on Braehead Avenue at around 5.19 am on Thursday, July 8.
Four fire engines were called in to bring the flames under control in the early hours of this morning, reports Edinburgh Live.
Paramedics were also dispatched to the scene and 97-year-old woman was rushed to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary.
It's understood she remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were made aware of a fire at a property on Braehead Avenue in Edinburgh around 5.40am on Thursday, 8 July, 2021.
“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and a 97-year-old woman has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with life-threatening injuries.
“Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.”
