Elderly residents wear glow sticks as care home relives legendary Grafton club

Elderly residents at a care home donned glow sticks and got in the party spirit while remembering the legendary Grafton nightclub.

Residents from the Simonsfield Care Home in Runcorn got partying at a specially themed night called "A night down at the Grafton" in tribute to the legendary West Derby Road nightspot.

Staff turned the home's cinema room into a makeshift Grafton nightclub for the event, which included signage above the door, disco lights, glowsticks, and records hanging from the ceiling.

Home manager Debbie Smith said: "When it came to closing the club around 9.30pm the residents didn't want the night to end.

"The night was such a hit we will reopen the Grafton again in the near future."

The Grafton shot to national prominence 20 years ago when it was the subject of a six-part BBC2 series.
