Elderly residents of a Staffordshire street woke up this morning to find their gardens had been ransacked by vandals.
Flowerbeds were destroyed and garden furniture stolen on a normally quiet street in the village of Hixon.
Staffordshire Police shared a photo of the “upsetting scene” on Twitter urging anyone with information to get in touch.
The force tweeted on Friday morning: "The upsetting scene the elderly residents of Walnut Crescent, Hixon, woke up to this morning.
"Their gardens and flowerbeds destroyed and garden furniture stolen.
"If anyone has information about this incident please contact 101 quoting reference 0054 of 01st May."
Social media users responded with outrage at the incident, with one commenting: “What a load of scumbags.
"To do this to anyone's garden is a pain, but to elderly folk who most probably are unable to move far, so only have their gardens to give them a bit of peace and nature. Hope they're caught, and punished severely.
“Old folk need protecting."
