Elderly pedestrian dies and teenager seriously injured in Aberdeen road smash

An elderly man died after a crash involving two pedestrians and two cars in Aberdeen early last night.

The 70-year-old passed away at the scene in Gilbert Road, Bucksburn and an 18-year-old woman was rushed to the city's Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, where she is in a stable condition.

Police investigating say the collision involved a black BMW estate and a silver Nissan Pixo.

Sergeant Craig McNeill from the road policing unit appealed for witnesses to the incident at 7.55pm to come forward.

He said: "Our thoughts are with all those affected by this terrible tragedy.

"I am extremely interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen either vehicle beforehand. I would also like to hear from anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage of the incident."
