An elderly man was woken in the middle of the night to find a stranger standing in his room.
The shocking incident happened between 2.30am and 3.30am on Monday, December 20 at his home in the Glazebrook Lane area of Warrington.
The elderly man awoke to see the offender and attempted to stop him, but he managed to get away and flee the property.

It is believed a wallet and two gold coloured rings were taken during the incident.
The burglar is described as a man, around 5ft 10in, wearing all dark clothing with a woollen hat and face covering.
Cheshire Police are now investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to come forward.
PC Matt Hankin said: "Home is where someone should feel the most safe but when a burglar strikes, it no longer feels a safe place.
"With Christmas just a matter of days away, this is a shocking incident which has left the victim without items of sentimental value to him.
"I would urge anyone who may have seen something that did not look quite right or perhaps captured CCTV or dashcam footage around the area to get in touch with us.
"Please ensure your property is secure and if you see anything suspicious, please report this to the police."
