Police are investigating after an elderly man was threatened with a hockey stick after four males broke into his Birmingham Gardens home on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Fussell Street home just before 4.30am to reports a group of males had forced entry to a home and menaced the 77-year-old occupant with a hockey stick.
The man's Kia Cerato was then stolen from the property. Thankfully, he was not injured.
Newcastle police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.
As part of those inquiries, police found four males standing next to a Kia on Mordue Parade, Jesmond, about 6.10am, but they fled the scene.
After a short foot chase, a 16-year-old was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.
Police searched the area but couldn't find the other three.
As inquiries continue, police have released descriptions of three males they believe may be able to assist with their investigations.
Two of the males are described as being of Caucasian appearance and wearing black hoodies.
A third male is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and wearing a grey hoodie.
