Elderly man taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by motorbike

An elderly man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a motorbike.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Monday on the A485 between the villages of Llanybydder and Cwmann in Carmarthenshire.

Police say an elderly man was involved in a collision with a passing motorbike near the cross roads in Llanybydder.

The road was closed in both directions for a period of around four hours and the injured man was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Two ambulance vehicles - a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance - arrived at the scene shortly after 3.30pm, followed by a Wales Air Ambulance helicopter.

A spokesman for the Wales Air Ambulance said: "We attended an incident in the Llanybydder area yesterday (Monday).

The charity’s Dafen-based aircraft was tasked at 4.26pm and arrived at scene at 4.42pm.

"Following treatment from our on-board consultant and critical care practitioner, they escorted the patient to Morriston Hospital in a road ambulance. Our involvement concluded at 6.35pm."

The man, who is in his 70s, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, including broken bones.
