Elderly man rushed to hospital after being trapped under car in Kingswood

An elderly man has been taken to hospital after being trapped under a car in Kingswood.

Paramedics and firefighters helped free the man, who was aged in his 70s, from the vehicle on Orchard Road this afternoon (Thursday).

No details about how the man became stuck under the car have been supplied.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 1:26pm to reports a male was trapped under a car on Orchard Road, in Kingswood.

"Crews from Avonmouth , Kingswood and Hicks Gate were mobilised.

"On arrival, crews assisted ambulance with rescuing the casualty who was then conveyed to hospital."

A spokesperson for Kingswood Fire Station tweeted: "Us and HicksGate helped a gentleman trapped underneath a car. SwasFT and police also on scene."

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 1.13pm to attend an incident at a residential address in St George, Bristol.

"We sent various paramedics to attend the incident. Due to patient confidentiality, we cannot release further details."
