Elderly man pulled from Aintree flat fire with horrific burn injuries

An elderly man suffered a catalogue of horrific burn injuries in a flat fire in the early hours of this morning.

Heroic firefighters wearing breathing apparatus burst into the Aintree property just before 1am today and pulled him to safety.

It is believed the blaze was caused by flammable materials coming into contact with a halogen heater in the sheltered accommodation.
